You may be familiar with the term "Religious Education." It has now been updated to "Faith Formation" because the goal of cultivating lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ involves much more than simply acquiring book knowledge.
While our program includes an educational component, it also offers opportunities for growth in two key areas: Catholic practice—providing moments to encounter Jesus—and Catholic culture—helping you incorporate your faith into your daily life.
In Faith Formation, we do more than just learn facts about our faith; we bring families together to explore how to actively live out their faith every day! Register Gr. PK-6Register Gr. 7-8
What is Family Faith Formation?
The Family Faith Formation program is based on two main premises: 1) no person is an island, meaning that raising children to become lifelong, practicing Catholics requires the support of the parish community; and 2) children naturally learn about the Faith best from their parents.
With that in mind, Family Faith Formation has identified three main pillars that, when understood and practiced, help lead children and their families to live out fully authentic, robust, Catholic lives. These three pillars of formation are Catholic Practice, Culture, and Education. As parents and caregivers grow in these areas during the course of the program, they become even better equipped to lead their children to meaningful and personal relationships with Jesus Christ and his Church.
Families have the option to complete our program at home or in person. In-person families meet twice a month to complete lessons in the school, and complete one lesson per month at home.
Second-grade Sacrament preparation is also part of Family Faith Formation. While the books and content used by the second-graders are different, the meeting dates and expectations are the same as Family Faith Formation.
Since families with children in different grade levels can meet at the same time, it simplifies fitting faith formation into busy schedules.
Second-graders will get ready for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, while growing in faith alongside their families. I'm ready to register!
What is Confirmation Prep?
For 7th and 8th graders preparing for Confirmation, we offer Confirmation preparation classes! This program prioritizes the students while incorporating family elements to enhance the experience. Confirmation students meet on the same days as the Family Faith Formation meetings, making it easier for families to manage their schedules. Each lesson focuses on Catholic practices, culture, and education, with a particular emphasis on developing a personal prayer life. The Confirmation preparation process spans two years, beginning in 7th grade and concluding in 8th grade. This program recognizes the vital role of family in a student's life while also encouraging their growing spiritual independence.
