Every parent hopes to be an inspiration to their child, and to feel like they understand their child. Most parents find that gets more and more difficult as their child gets older and closer to teenage years, and in some cases can feel like your authority as a parent, and your relationship with your child, is slipping through your hands.
Parents need a way to have conversations with their children that matter, and that build a trusting relationship, and acknowledges them as trusted authority figures for their children.
At St. John Neumann we found that the faith is the perfect topic to revolve those conversations around to build the trust, affection, and unity that every family desires. The Catechism agrees:
Parents are called to be the primary educators of their children (2221)
Parents share their faith with their kids through Catholic Culture, built in their home by word and example. (2223)
The role of parents is so important they are almost impossible to replace! (2221)
The role of Faith Formation is to provide context and opportunities for family conversations around the Faith which empowers parents with the authority God gave them, creates Catholic culture in the home, and roots families in that culture with mutual trust, growth, and Faith. The program achieves this in three ways:
- Meetings
- Conversations Starters
- At home activities
That's all you need to start having conversations around your Faith that will make you stronger Catholics, so that you can become an even stronger family.
