My Husband, Shawn, and I have four sons; two beautiful daughters (in Law) and two grandbabies. Our family has been active members of SJN since 1995, involved in numerous ministries. I had initially developed the role of Parish Nurse/Health minister here at SJN in 1997 and was hired as fulltime Parish Nurse in 1999. After occupying this role for a decade I stepped away for other nursing endeavors returning to the role, in a part time capacity, in July of 2018.
My nursing career began as an LPN; I am presently a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science with minor in Gerontology from Molloy College. My Masters of Science is in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University.
I was certified as a Parish Nurse in 1999 from the International Parish Nurse Resource Center. The American League of Nursing acknowledged the certification in the early 2000’s under Community Nursing – identifying parish nurses as Faith Community Nurses (FCN). I have completed 5 units of Pastoral education from Hershey Medical Center. I am certified as a Professional Chronic Care Coach.
I am passionate about Parish Nursing and the health ministry; Recognizing that an individual’s health is an evolving process and is made up of body, mind and spirit- ever trying to balance itself. The role of Parish Nurse here at SJN has many facets. As your Parish Nurse/Health Minister I will be active in Education, Advocating, Consultation and Coordination to name a few areas. If you would like to learn more about Parish Nursing or are available to assist in the many avenues requiring volunteer support please contact me.
